Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans shared condolences for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
