The Belarusian player finished the season with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and picked up a historic £11m in earnings.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".
